Be The Light

What does it mean to “Be the Light”? Well, before we can answer that question we have to define where we are as a people. Today we live in very troubled world. It is a world full of fear, anger, doubt, evil, and one full of every type of sin you can imagine. And then there’s one more thing, it’s a world full of darkness, a world where some of us walked for many years.

But that changed for us when Jesus reached down and forgave all of our sins and filled us with His Spirit. When He did that, we became a part of a very special groups of people, the called ones. No, we didn’t instantly become some great man or woman of God in that moment of time. Being called doesn’t mean you’re a Pastor, or a preacher, or a missionary, or some other kind of leader. What it does mean is that Jesus called each of us out of the darkness of sin and into His Marvelous Light. Matt 5:16 tells us to “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Jesus didn’t just give this command to His disciples; he gave it to every one of us. We must show the world what God has done in our lives so God will get the Glory. It will also serve as a witness that we might win some to Christ.

To most of the world, we’re the only thing anywhere close to Jesus they will ever see or hear. We must be His hands, and His feet, and His voice.

Matt 5:14-15 says “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.”

If we truly love Jesus, we should want to share the good news of this Gospel of Jesus Christ and what He’s done for us. Just think of where we would be if someone hadn’t shared the Gospel with us. Jesus is coming soon and there are so many out there not ready and that have never heard the name of Jesus. Luke 9:26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.” I don’t want Jesus to be ashamed of me and you don’t either. So may we be obedient to God’s direction and let our light shine. Let’s get a burden for those that don’t yet have this truth of Jesus Christ and let’s see how we can help God’s Kingdom grow today.

Luke 15:10, Jesus said “Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.”
